Now these are the kind of stories that just inspire me. How do you go from knowing nothing about cars to running an auto service shop that wins super service awards every year?
I would like to quote the bio from Catherine’s inspiring story: “Feeling the need for a change, I signed up for a 5-month course for women that taught basic trades skills. During this time, an idea hit me – wouldn’t it be great to learn about cars and then open my own auto repair shop and be the kind of place where people feel good about bringing their cars? So I decided to pursue that dream.”
That is a nutshell is the pursuit and achievement of dreams. I don’t know Catherine, I only came across this story while reading an Angie’s List article and I realized that this is what I want to help people achieve. I don’t know if Catherine had a coach, I don’t know if she procrastinated and sat on the idea for a while, I don’t know if she first tried, failed and then had to to try again. What I do know is that at some point she got up and she did!
Pause here for a minute and think about your dreams and the things you have on hold and do a little internal check of what it would feel like to have achieved them.
There are so many elements to this story (career transitions, unleashing your potential, focus, accomplishing goals), that I for sure would need to follow it up with a post worthy to the lessons it teaches, but for now I just wanted to let it stand as just an inspiring story to stop waiting and go for our dreams.
