How to Get the Results you Want

Like the old definition of madness of doing the same thing and expecting different results we really need to challenge our beliefs, that after years of trying to change something that the result will be different if we go about it the same way. If there is something that is so important to us and we have spent years trying to achieve it and it has continued to allude us, then we need to re-evaluate. This relates closely to the blog about making sticky resolutions but is more fundamental. If I want to lose weight and have been disciplined about exercising, have been watching what I eat and have not lost any weight then the process is clearly not getting me to the end result. Why? If I have been working in a corporation for 20 years, have taken all the required certifications and kept up with my industry and am getting no where, why?

It is almost always necessary to talk to another person to try and get to the bottom of this. It might be that you are sabotaging yourself and don’t know it, it might be that a new skill needs to be developed or you need to pay for external expertise. This might be a good time to get a life coach or to just talk to someone on your personal board about what could possibly be holding you back from achieving something really important in your life.

Gearing up to make changes and making the necessary mental shifts so you can be successful is not trivial. Yes, most of my posts right now are related to getting ready for the new calendar year, but most of us need to make these changes and adjustments constantly, otherwise we are just spinning our wheels.
